Review - Coldplay - Principality Stadium, Cardiff

Coldplay continue to raise their game in live performances and this was no exception. A thumping 'Higher Power' leads to giant bouncing balls being launched into the crowd and the Coldplay trick of flashing wrist bands was another brilliant way of turning a massive stadium into one big party. Having a song like 'Adventure of a Lifetime' is a pretty good way to light up a gig and for a rock band they REALLY can GROOVE (as we all saw with their disco duet with Barry Gibb at Glastonbury).

They have developed a huge back catalogue of hooky hits including 'Viva La Vida' and 'Paradise' but the power is still there in the simplicity of the driving guitar in 'Yellow' which was just brilliant. Chris Martin is the kind of man who would probably use the phrase 'full of beans' and this would be the perfect way to describe him - well, that, or Duracell bunny - his energy is endless and if that's what three shredded wheat does for you then I'm changing my breakfast regime.

"Everyone knows Wales is the best place for singing - tonight we will prove that to be 100% true."

Oh go on then, flatter us, we'll go with it. Our voices were raised up to 'A Sky Full of Stars' and South Wales wondered what the racket was.

Well it was one of the biggest bands on the planet doing what they do best and we certainly appreciated it.
